Our Signature Design Process transforms an idea into a timeless home, guiding you from inspiration all the way through construction. With thoughtful exploration, creativity, and intention throughout every step, we create a home that is a reflection of you, your lifestyle, your land, and your story.
STEP 1
Discovery and Vision
Often, the first meeting takes place in two locations. First, evaluating your lot so we can ensure we are capitalizing on views, entry sequences, existing trees, and grading. Then, back to our office (if in town) to begin understanding your lifestyle, your goals, and your dream for what “home” should be. We begin with “macro” items like anticipated budget, and size of the home, and continue on verbally walking through every room to discuss size, features, spatial volume and many other items while making sure we are listening to your vision and dreams for the project to use as the inspiration for our design.
STEP 2
Concept & Design
Through creative collaboration, we translate your vision into inspired architectural concepts. Whether timeless, modern, or a blend of both, every line and detail is designed to reflect your individuality while balancing beauty, function, and value. We will meet and discuss the schematic designs in detail so you can weigh in on every aspect of the design. GDG will continue to articulate the design through CAD drawings and renderings until our clients are pleased with every facet of the home.
STEP 3
Detailing & Documentation
With precision, we refine your design into comprehensive construction drawings. These documents ensure your vision is protected – setting clear standards of quality, accuracy, and craftsmanship.
STEP 4
Builder Selection & Partnership
Unlike many firms, GDG remains actively by your side when it’s time to choose a builder. We connect you with trusted General Contractors (G.C.s), help you compare bids, and guide you toward the partner best suited to your project.
STEP 5 (Optional Investment)
Advocacy Through Construction
GDG is your advocate from start to finish, we stay engaged throughout construction to ensure your home is executed exactly as designed – protecting both your investment and your dream. We will hold pre-construction meetings with your general contractor and subcontractors, brief them on the specific requirements for your unique build, and resolve any questions before construction begins – heading off most issues before they have a chance to happen. GDG will also perform regular site visits, manually checking for errors and omissions, and general quality control, as well as answering on-going owner and contractor questions. From each visit we compile and provide a report to both you, the owner, and the general contractor for corrections, which will include pictures and description of each item to be addressed. Our arduous process ensures that your dream home is built exactly as intended and built to last for generations.
